Loch Heilan is a shallow marl loch with an average depth of less than 1.5m. This is a challenging loch that will put an experienced angler to the test. It’s home to some of the biggest trout caught in Caithness but be prepared to blank! In the year of 2019 a fish weighing in at 15lb 9oz has been caught.

NO BANK FISHING ON DFFA MEMBERSHIP CARD.
No dogs are allowed and all gate must be closed.
Outboard motors are allowed.
Valid full DFFA Membership Cards for all those fishing should be carried as proof of permission to fish & displayed on vehicles.
No visiting anglers are allowed unless full DFFA Members.
All fishing to be fair casting of the fly.
No bank fishing unless a day permit is purchased.
Bag limit of four fish per angler per day.
All fish under 15 inches to be carefully returned to the water.
Details of catch returns, including fishless outings, for each individual angler to be deposited at the end of each outing in the box which will be available at the car parking area
* DFFA Members who wish to fish on Sundays may use the DFFA boat but must each purchase a bank fishing permit, available from Harper’s or Hugo Ross
The boat is berthed at the south side beside the car park with access from Greenland Farm Road.
